Run the installer and follow platform prompts. macOS users: allow the app in Security settings if macOS blocks it. Linux users: use the AppImage or your distro package if recommended. Mobile users: install the official Ledger Live app from the store and grant minimal permissions.
When Ledger Live opens click Get started. Select whether you’re setting up a new device or already have a recovery phrase to restore. If you already set up your hardware wallet elsewhere, choose "Restore device" and follow the prompts.

Follow the device instructions to set a PIN and write down your 24‑word Secret Recovery Phrase on the recovery sheet. Store the sheet offline in a secure place. Ledger will never ask you for the full 24 words in the app — any request is a scam.
If restoring, select the appropriate size (12/24) and input your words on the device when requested. Ledger Live will then sync and import your accounts once the device is unlocked.
